Application Fee

Educational Qualification
Candidates must have:
- Passed 10th Standard / Secondary School Examination (SSE) from a recognized Board.
- Passed Mathematics and English in Class 10th.
- Studied the local language up to 10th Standard from a recognized board.
- Knowledge of Computer.
- Knowledge of Cycling.
- Adequate means of livelihood.
The local language requirement varies according to the Postal Circle. For example, Bengali is prescribed for West Bengal, while different languages are prescribed for other Circles.
Important: Candidates should check the prescribed local language for the particular Circle/Division before applying.
Selection Process
There is no regular written examination for GDS engagement.
Candidates will be shortlisted through a system-generated merit list based on Class 10th marks. The marks are calculated and aggregated to percentage up to four decimal places.

10th Marks → Merit List → Document Verification → Provisional Engagement → Joining
If grades/points are mentioned instead of marks, the Department will convert them according to the prescribed rules. For applicable grade-only marksheets, the prescribed multiplication factor is 9.5.
After shortlisting, candidates have to attend physical document verification. The original documents must be produced for verification.
How to Apply for India Post GDS Recruitment 2026?
Candidates can apply online only through the official GDS Online Engagement Portal.
Step 1 – One-Time Registration
- Visit the GDS Online Engagement Portal.
- Click Candidate Login/Register.
- Select New Candidate Registration.
- Enter your mobile number and email ID.
- Verify both through OTP.
- Enter your personal and Class 10 details.
- Create your password.
- Complete the registration and note your Registration Number.
The mobile number and email ID should be active because important communication will be sent through them.
Step 2 – Submit Online Application
- Login using your Registration Number and password.
- Open the active GDS recruitment notification.
- Enter your educational details.
- Select the eligible Division.
- Give your post preferences.
- Upload your recent photograph and signature.
- Preview the application carefully.
- Pay the application fee, if applicable.
- Submit the application form.
- Save/print the submitted application.
The notification permits an applicant to select only one Division, where eligible posts will be displayed according to factors such as community, age, PwD status and local language.
